Well since I haven't been around Newgrounds posting for about five months or so, I haven't been telling you what's been going on with my life lately. I always talked about in threads I made about the complete randomness of what I see during either work or my nights on the town.
Well, let me just give you a quick update on what's been happening:
I may have mentioned this to a few people, but the gas station I was working at and the place where I made most of my observations shut down back in February. I was let go due to lack of business two months before the place shut down for good. I knew around September that things were going downhill fast, what with the different products and such that the rival gas station across the street started bringing in different and better products. Also, it didn't help our owner was broke and couldn't afford gas for the place. So yeah, now that place is finished with for now. There's been talk of other businesses filling that building, but nothing has come about that yet.
That's why I picked up a job at a radio station in August. It was pretty cool to get a job that I was originally going to college for, and I didn't need college to get it. Part of my dream job is to become a sports broadcaster, and this was a step in the right direction. To get my foot in the door, give me a good beginning experience into the world of radio.
Sadly, I don't have that job anymore, either. During the flood, I was stranded here in my hometown and wasn't able to get to work. During the last week of June, I got a call saying that there was going to be more time changes to where there was an expanded time to where the station would be vacant. Naturally with the time cuts, my job became expendible since I was only a part-timer. I got a raw deal there. I know there was something more to it than just reducing the time. Well you know what, those new owners can choke on their own self-narcissism, the fuckin' pricks.
But yeah, that's basically it. Now I'm about to pick up a job at a grain company at about $9.00/hr. This is actually a better thing for me, since those other two jobs paid minimum wage. I'll be getting a lot of hours during every week, too. The only downside is there's going to be a three-month period during the winter where operations are shut down. But fortunately, it's basically a full-time job since I'll be getting an automatic recall to work when operations pick up again.
So yeah, that's been the past five months in a nutshell.
