Gooch's News

Greetings friends! I guess it's about that time for my yearly post!

So... a lot has happened since my last post. Some good things, some bad.

First off, my dad passed away Thanksgiving Eve last year after his battle with cancer. I miss him everyday, but I've taken solace in knowing he's no longer suffering.

Let's move to December. The house my wife and I had been renting ended up with a serious mold issue due to water leakage from the pipes we kept telling our landlord about (and never did properly fix), along with water underneath the foundation of the house. So with that, in the beginning of the winter, with snow on the ground and cold temperatures and wind chills, we grabbed all our stuff that was salvageable and moved in with my in-laws.

Not an ideal situation, I know. But my wife and I have both made mistakes when it comes to finances, so we're currently recovering from a hole we dug for ourselves. We're steadily on the upswing towards getting back on track, and we're hoping soon enough that we will be able to purchase a home that we can finally call our own.

In April of last year, I transferred jobs within the same company. I went from being a casino table games supervisor to a barback for the wait staff. Doesn't seem like a very wise move, does it? Well, turns out it was one of the better choices I've made lately. Even though my hourly pay took a dip by nearly $4, I'm still making more money thanks to the tremendous staff I work with because of their tipouts. Plus I'm working only four days a week with three off, compared to the uncertainly of how many days I'd work a week.

I got extremely burnt out, and needed a change. Not only for my sanity, but for my well-being. I was feeling like garbage. I let myself blimp up to almost 385 pounds at the end of last November. I dropped almost 30 pounds by the time January rolled around, but I still didn't feel all there physically or mentally. So once the opportunity opened up to transfer departments, I hopped on it. Plus I'll hopefully have the opportunity to bartend later on down the road and make even more money.

With this new job of stocking the bar, I've actually been way more active than I was previously. As of right now, I'm back down to 330 pounds. The job keeps me moving constantly, and I definitely get a workout doing it. That's a lot of cases of beer to lug around! Still a long way to go to drop more weight, but I'm feeling loads better than I was late last year.

And Saturday, my wife and I will have been married for six years. Time flies, doesn't it? We won't get to chance to celebrate it the day of, but we will be celebrating it the following day with a little mini-getaway. She recently got a new job within the same company as their new marketing coordinator, which I'm elated for! She's busted her ass off to get to this point, and now has a chance to finally shine in a field that she went to school for!

Lots of ups. Lots of downs. But that's life. It can be cruel, but beautiful and joyous as well. Stay amazing, my friends.

I know it's been a while, and I'm sure most of you don't know who I am or have forgotten about me, but let me give you an update on what's going on.

Right now, I've been heavily busy with work and streaming on Twitch. As it stands right now, I wish I had more time for streaming, because the channel is going in a positive direction! We're 41 followers shy of 1,300, and every moment with the community has been a blast!

But that being said, it currently doesn't pay the bills fully, and I'm currently working a lot of hours at my job, so I haven't had as much free time to spend here, or anywhere else for that matter of fact. But much love to you all. Miss you all. Hope to see you down the road, wherever that may be.

I know, it's been a while.  I'm probably forgotten for the most part around here.  That's to be expected.  I've only been posting once in a blue moon.

Nevertheless, I've been staying active on here, but mostly with just medal games.  I'm currently working on a website that will hopefully be ready to launch sometime in February.  I'll keep everyone posted, if you do so desire to know about it.

I know that a lot of you can't relate to this, but I just got married.  It was a long time coming, as I have been with my now wife for over 4 and 1/2 years.  I am a happy guy, and I wouldn't trade it for the world.  Maybe someday for some of the younger ones on here, you will find the same happiness i have.

Cheers, Newgrounds family.

I became the fifth user to be pentalisted on http://hexalist.ngpot.com/ .  I never realized that after gaining medal 10,000, that gave me five stats that are 10,000+!  This may not seem like a lot, but to a stat freak like I am, it's special.  And it shows how much I still love and care for Newgrounds.  It's been a part of my since I was seventeen, and I will never let that go.

Now it's time to keep the climb going on that list.  I'm right at the bottom of the top fifty, so I know I need to keep accumulating those stats.  HELL YES!

I have this.  I want to be my own boss.  The biggest problem is: What type of business do I get into?

Knowing my love for Newgrounds and playing games, I kind of want to get into the gaming/animation industry.  I just don't know the high-end potential of it anymore.  I've seen how Newgrounds hasn't had the activity it did in its glory days, yet there's still traffic that goes through here each and everyday, and all it takes is one project to get your feet wet and off the ground at the same time.

I know it's a big risk, but I already have talked to some people about getting things set up for us to succeed.  It all starts with a great team of workers, which I'm slowly assembling.  Hopefully, you'll see some games or cartoons from us sometime in 2016.

Here's hoping I can make this work.  If not, back to the drawing board.

Everybody sets goals for themselves from year-to-year.  Most of mine are what you hear from people all the time.  They are all too true for me, though.  Here's what I need to accomplish...'

1. QUIT SMOKING

I've been smoking for almost the past five years now.  I can feel the shit building up in my lungs at this point.  I do have an electronic cigarette that I think will help me ultimately quit the harsher, real product.  I can just imagine how much money I'll end up saving in the long run doing so, not to mention keeping my lungs from going completely black.

2. LOSE WEIGHT

I currently weigh in at 330 pounds.  at 29 years old, that's a disasterous weight.  My ultimate goal is to at least get back down to 230-250 pounds.  I would be happy with at least getting back to about 290 by the end of this year.  One step at a time, right?

3. FIND A NEW JOB

I've been working my current job as a casino dealer for over four and a half years now.  I've lost the passion to deal.  Not necessarily because of the people I work with, but how poorly things are ran around the place.  What sucks is I might as well look at it as a dead-end job.  I can't get promoted in my department since my girlfriend works in same said department.  It's definitely time for a new change of scenery.

4. BE A LEADER

Most people view me as a more the follower type rather than the leader type.  You don't know how bad that irks me.  It's time I show those people who doubt me that I can be a leader.

So those are my four main goals for 2015.  If I can accomplish all four of these goals, I will ultimately feel a lot better about myself.
